When someone has your back, they are there to support you unconditionally. When life seems to blindside you with undesirable events, they’re there for you without complaint, supporting you in your moment of need, not for their own selfish, self-gratifying reasons, but because your well being to them is foremost in their mind and heart.
Urban Dictionary
This last week has been fairly tight mentally and physically but who’d expect anything less from living/working nowadays let alone have the pressures of training for a marathon/trek. In today’s rush we all think too much, seek too much, want too much and forget about the simple things!
Another year passes with the untimely death of my dad he died 3 years ago on the 1st September, another year of missing his presence and character.
He always had your back no matter how much you pissed him off with bad decisions and even more back cheek, like any dad you would say, possibly we take for granted all aspects of their energy, sacrifice and love through times when of course we knew everything, it’s been a massive life learning curve! He’s sorely missed.
To those that have my back….you know who you are. I hope I show you the love, care and respect you all deserve my thoughts are always with you!
Anyways the trek to China & exploit of Dublin Marathon is in his memory which motivates the writing of this blog and makes the many 6am starts running the roads of Downpatrick slightly easier its still bloody damn hard even though I know what it takes to run & train for an endurance event.
Running can be very lonely. But that is one of the beautiful things about it. You, your time, your space, your thoughts. You never know where your running will lead you. So many paths.
My path has always been slightly left of centre link here About Me
Charity Body Pump
My first charity event is this week Saturday 8th September extremely grateful to Tel’s Fitness, Downpatrick (Andrew Telford) The Daily Grind (Johnny Maloney) for there support in running the 3 hour Charity Body Pump on Saturday 8th September.

Details on how to book will be through www.facebook.com/TelsFitnessDownpatrick
Fundraising
The many people who have given of their money are truly inspiring, I don’t expect much and realise that everyone is always being tagged with a begging bowl for the many different charities locally and nationally, this whole trip is funded by me for me, and with that process I intend to raise as much as I can for Diabetes Uk & Kidney Research Uk so any pound or pence is always welcomed.

Sorry for the long-winded version of training part but think its necessary I’ve, of course, had 3 weddings in this block of training and every one of them extremely enjoyable pure excess maybe this is where I differ from the past experiences of marathon training were the regime consumed my every thinking much to the demise of relationships and a general grumpy state, I never really thought about how lucky I was to be able to do this.
Over the last few weeks, weight is good, food is fair to middling the pizza’s and chippies haven’t gone away you know!! And I’ve seen fitness improve from just easy running but you know easy running can have it benefits the slow improvement of pace is showing me the relaxed way this is happening I’m 50 per cent of the way there and now it’s time for interval’s and the long miles, it’s time to thrive.
The time to be fit, healthy and not burnt out is Sunday 28th October and by god, I’ll be ready!
Life is for living!!
If you’ve read this thank you….catch you soon G:)
