Life is
always now.
Stories and ideas about getting stronger in body and mind. Running, mountains, breath, the people met along the way, and what goes on inside our heads.

It started with 200 yards.
There was a time a short walk left me out of breath. Getting outside was a small beginning. Running, mountains, road bikes and travel followed. So did ten years of "no pain, no gain", and the injuries to prove it.
Now it's about something better: learning what the body and mind can do when you nourish both, not fight them.
Effort. Recovery. Repeat.
Exercise isn't a war on your body. Growth happens in the rhythm between effort and rest, with care, attention and enjoyment.
Move
Do something hard on purpose, a little more than last time.
Rest
Sleep, breath and slow days. Where the work turns into strength.
Reflect
Notice what the miles are teaching. Write it down.
Connect
The miles matter. The people beside you matter more.
Mind
Get curious about the stories you tell yourself. That's where the real limits live.
Notes on the human mind.
The legs carry you up the mountain. The head decides how you treat yourself on the way. Shorter pieces on burnout, hurry, motivation and the stories we tell ourselves about effort.
I spent ten years waging war on my body. Here's what the casualties taught me.
( the hurry sickness )More isn't always more. Why we rush, and what it costs us.
( fit, healthy, exhausted )Chronic exhaustion isn't the price of success. Mostly, it's preventable.
( meant to move )Movement isn't optional. It's a lifelong privilege, so make it one you enjoy.
Stories from the road.
One last day on the wall.
The final chapter of a trek that stayed with me long after it ended.
Day three: contemplation.
Very little sleep, a lot of energy, and a little space to look beyond the next step.
Roads to China, via Liverpool.
A thank you to everyone who gave, and a few thoughts on human kindness.
